Manuel Ugarte dropped a clear-cut message to fans after Manchester United’s “hard-fought battle” against Premier League rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday evening.
The Red Devils secured a valuable Premier League point in their first match in 2025, with Manchester United coming close to snatching all three points.
Ruben Amorim’s men and Arne Slot’s side went into the break with a 0-0 scoreline before United stunned Liverpool in the second half after taking the lead.
Bruno Fernandes played Lisandro Martinez through and the United defender produced a stunning finish past Liverpool No 1 Alisson in the 52nd minute.
Liverpool rallied back seven minutes later after Cody Gakpo cancelled out Lisandro Martinez’s second-half opener before the Red Devils were awarded a penalty.
Mohamed Salah put Liverpool in the lead in the 70th minute after beating Andre Onana from the spot-kick during the thrilling Premier League contest.
Amad Diallo then struck in the 80th minute to pull United level with Liverpool and the Red Devils walked away with a point from Sunday’s 2-2 draw against the Reds.

Fernandes reacts to Ugarte’s message
Manchester United are 13th in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are seven points clear of the drop zone amid their recent run of form.
The Red Devils had lost four consecutive matches across all competitions under Ruben Amorim ahead of their draw against league leaders Liverpool.
Manuel Ugarte returned to the starting XI for United after missing the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Newcastle at Old Trafford in December 2024 due to a suspension.
The 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder deeply impressed with his performance and Ugarte sent a powerful message to United fans after his display at Anfield.
“Hard-fought battle at Anfield,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Great effort from everyone. Let’s keep pushing with humility.”

Bruno Fernandes’ Instagram account was spotted in the comments of Ugarte’s post and the United captain made his feelings clear on the midfielder’s performance.
The 30-year-old Portugal and United star reacted to his post with the message “impressionante,” which translates to ‘impressive’ from Portuguese to English.
Amorim reacts to Ugarte’s performance vs Liverpool
Speaking after the 2-2 draw at Anfield, Amorim insisted that Ugarte was not the only United player to step up and deliver a standout performance against Liverpool.
“I think I don’t want to talk about just Ugarte,” he said at his post-match press conference, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“Ugarte is the only guy that I know really, really, really well. Everybody, even in the bench.
“So today, they faced the competition in a different way. It’s so simple but so difficult to explain here. So, it’s so clear for everybody.”
