Manuel Ugarte’s World Cup went from bad to worse with an injury against Spain, and Man Utd have received the latest on it.

All the plans for Manuel Ugarte to make an impact at the World Cup were already derailing when Uruguay failed to win against Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia.

His nation ended up getting eliminated in the group stages, and to add to his worries, he seemed to pick up a huge injury.

Man Utd have now received the latest Manuel Ugarte injury update.

Manuel Ugarte injury update

It was already suspected that Ugarte had picked up a serious injury because, for all his faults as a player, he’s not someone who goes down easily.

When he was stretchered off, it was clear that something major had happened, and that has turned out to be the case.

It can now be revealed, via Rodri Vasquez, that an MRI scan has confirmed Ugarte has a rupture of the cruciate ligaments.

This comes as a huge blow to the player personally and professionally, as he would have also been counting on a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

Ugarte openly said he preserved himself for the World Cup, thinking his United career was over, and the club also thought the same.

With such a long-term injury, the chances of a summer move are next to zero, especially on the back of a poor World Cup.

Now, even a January move looks off, which means a season that is effectively written off for the player.
