Manchester United’s proposed third kit has done something that the club have never done before in the entirety of the club’s history.

Manchester United were founded in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR Football Club. The club’s original name was a nod a to team of railway workers in the Newton Heath area.

The club later changed their name to Manchester United in 1902, which has remained the same to this day. United are a club with rich history, which is admired by everyone surrounding the club.

However, sometimes history is there to be rewritten. United appear to have done just this, changing something never been done before on their proposed third kit.

Manchester United’s third kit banishes club crest

According to Laurie Whitwell, Manchester United journalist for The Athletic – Manchester United’s proposed third kit will feature just a devil image rather than the club’s crest for the very first time in the great club’s history.

The Adidas team have gone for a very minimalistic look for United’s third kit for the 23/24 season. This is reflected where the badge should be, replacing the traditional club crest’s features with just a symbol of the devil, which in this case is actually red.

Now in the past, United kits have featured differently designed badges, as they change over time. They have also featured no badges whatsoever in some of the much older jerseys.

However, using only a part of the club’s crest has never been done before in the entirety of the club’s 145-year history.

The home kit and the away kit have also been leaked, with a very strange choice of an away jersey.

The proposed third kit does look great though. The design is clean and we think the Red Devils will look ace sporting this away from home next season.
