Manchester United's international stars return to Carrington for pre-season training

Manchester United’s international stars have returned to Carrington for pre-season training without wantaway striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

Following their international commitments with their respective countries, the players were given a three-week summer break.

Apart from youngster Alejandro Garnacho, who returned early following his exploits with the Argentinian Under-20 side in the Toulon Tournament, the rest of United’s international players have returned to Carrington today.

The major absentee is Ronaldo who didn’t report to Carrington due to ‘family reasons’ which the club has accepted as a vaild reason.

But the rest of United’s playing squad have returned in what is Erik ten Hag’s second week of pre-season training.

With United set to depart for Bangkok on Friday, which is the first part of United’s Tour 22, the returning crop of players will have the opportunity to meet their new boss for the first time and become accustomed to his training methods.

Amongst Manchester United’s international stars who returned for pre-season training were Bruno Fernandes, Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire.

Returning loanees James Garner and Facundo Pellistri also came through the doors at Carrington.

The players will undergo medical tests before reuniting with the rest of their teammates and meeting Ten Hag.

On a day where several first-team stars return for pre-season training, Manchester United look to have made significant progress in their transfer window plans.

Feyenoord and Netherlands left-back Tyrell Malacia is expected to become Ten Hag’s first signing today.

And Christian Eriksen has verbally agreed to join Manchester United on a free transfer, according to the Athletic.
