The international break must have been a good thing for Manchester United, as they won 2-1 in their first game back against Sheffield United.
Goals from Scott McTominay and a Diogo Dalot screamer were enough to give Erik ten Hag‘s side their fifth victory in the league this season and propel them up to 8th in the Premier League table.
It was a performance with a few positives. Andre Onana certainly looked a bit better, Harry Maguire was immense and, of course, the result went United’s way. However, there’s definitely room to improve.
Statistics on United’s ‘best and worst’ players this season against the Blades show exactly why they own that spot.

Bruno Fernandes is Manchester United’s best player this season
According to Sofa Score ratings, Bruno Fernandes is Manchester United’s best player this season.
The Portuguese Magnifico has an average rating of 7.7 in all the games he’s played, topping the charts in the Red Devils side.
He was once again one of the better performers against Sheffield. His stats, provided by Statman Dave, speak volumes.
- 88 touches
- 45 passes completed
- 5 ground duels won
- 5 key passes
- 3 clearances
- 2/2 dribbles completed
- 1 shot off the woodwork
- 1 assist
In what wasn’t his finest performance, the stats really show why he’s United’s best and most consistent performer this season.

Rasmus Hojlund is statistically Manchester United’s worst player this season
Probably unfairly, Sofa Score has Rasmus Hojlund as United’s worst player this season, with an average rating of 6.4.
He did look very off it yesterday. He just couldn’t seem to get into the game. It reflected in a lot of seriously poor stats.
- 14 touches
- 2 big chances missed
- 0 key passes
- 0 aerial duels won
- 3 times possession lost
- 0 goals
- 63rd-minute substitute
Most embarrassingly of all, is the 14 touches Hojlund had. United keeper Onana made nearly three times as many at 40.
It will click for Hojlund, as we’ve seen with his Champions League performances, but he is struggling slightly leading the kine on his own.
He’s only young and is still adapting. We’re sure he’ll come good.
