Manchester United youngster Amad has been talking about the players who he idolised growing up.
Amad, 21, lived the dream of many young footballers when he got the opportunity to sign for Manchester United.
He got the chance to play alongside Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani, and also trained alongside Cristiano Ronaldo – although did not play on the pitch together as he was injured in early 2021/22 and then sent out on loan.
Now, as he looks to kick on and reach a new level in his career, he has been reflecting on those he admires and rates the very most highly.

Amad rated Wayne Rooney as the best
A twinkle-toed winger full of unpredictability and skill, you might expect Cristiano Ronaldo to have been Amad’s favourite ever player to don the Red Devils’ jersey, especially considering he later got the time to train with him at Carrington.
Instead, Amad picked Ronaldo’s former teammate, Wayne Rooney as his favourite Red Devils player of all time.
He responded, via a fan Q&A: “I want to say Wayne Rooney. He was very strong, he had a good vision for the goal, so he is my favourite player.”
Rooney is Manchester United’s record ever goalscorer, and has had a little bit of a fractious relationship with Ronaldo at times, although there is a deep respect for one another.

Amad snubs Ronaldo in the debate he cares about
Ronaldo himself might accept that Rooney beats him hands down when it comes to longevity at Manchester United.
But the snub he won’t like from former teammate Amad, is the response the Ivorian uttered when asked to select his idol growing up.
Amad’s answer was unequivocal: ““Messi. Messi was always my idol, before and right now. So, I want to say Messi.”
Before, understandable. Right now, after he’s spent months training with Ronaldo? The Al-Nassr forward is likely to take that one very personally.
