Manchester United are busy preparing for the club’s fifth Europa League game of the season, and first under Ruben Amorim.

Remember the Europa League game with FC Twente, the miserly 1-1 draw, and the comments from Christian Eriksen that followed?

Eriksen admitted United’s players did not want to win as much as Twente did. They were revealing, heavily criticised by Roy Keane among others, and shone a spotlight on the problems in Erik ten Hag’s squad, suggesting something was missing behind the scenes.

New head coach Ruben Amorim has been tasked with patching United back together again, and looking at preparations for the game against Bodo Glimt, it appears he is on the right track.

Happy faces in United training

You only need to look at the images circulating from Carrington to see that Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff have won the players over.

This is a squad packed with happy faces, where the vibes are strong, and this is going to provide the platform for the team’s relaunch under Amorim.

It is so important to get the players in the right mindset, and already it appears Amorim has got it spot o in terms of winning the squad over.

Double boost with one setback and one delay

Ruben Amorim spoke at his press conference to explain he is taking it cautious with Leny Yoro, who is not under consideration to face Bodo/Glimt.

Jonny Evans was also missing from training, removing one of the centre-backs who started Amorim’s first game in charge.

This was offset by a double defensive boost, with Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire featuring at Carrington.

Martinez suffered a knock during the international break, while Maguire has not played for Manchester United since the October 6 draw against Aston Villa.

Maguire won’t be considered for selection against Bodo/Glimt, Amorim explained – but having him back with the squad is a big positive ahead of a busy fixture schedule.

“Not Harry [but] Licha is ready. He didn’t [stay on the sidelines for] too much time, so I feel he is ready. It is a different situation with Harry.”
