Manchester United target Goncalo Ramos has revealed that he has a good connection with Red Devils attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Benfica’s number 88 has come off the bench to replace Cristiano Ronaldo in both of Portugal’s two World Cup group stage games so far.

With Fernando Santos’ Selecao already qualified for the last-16 ahead of their last Group H clash against South Korea, the 21-year-old will be hoping to be handed his first World Cup start.

But such is Ronaldo’s desire to break records and score goals, especially in the World Cup, the 37-year-old isn’t likely going to accept starting on the bench against South Korea.

The Sun have previously reported that Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils have been keeping an eye on the Benfica striker who is seemingly in the midst of a breakthrough campaign for club and country.

From 21 appearances for the Portuguese giants this season, Ramos has 14 goals and six assists to his name.

Following Ramos’ impressive first half of the 2022-23 campaign, the striker was rewarded with a call-up to Portugal’s 26-man World Cup squad.

Ramos scored on his senior Portugal debut against Nigeria – a game in which Ronaldo missed due to illness.

Following Portugal’s win against Uruguay, Fernandes labelled Ramos an “animal” with a comment on the Benfica striker’s Instagram post.

Keen to repay a compliment to United’s Portuguese magnifico, Ramos commented on a picture of him and Fernandes on his Instagram story with the caption: “Lots of chemistry”.

With Ten Hag light on options upfront following the mutual termination of Ronaldo’s contract, Ramos could be an option for the former Ajax manager.

And judging by Ramos’ connection and relationship with Fernandes, United’s number eight could well endorse the pursuit of his compatriot’s signature.
