Manchester United have started the Ruben Amorim era but Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town was rather uninspiring.
Ruben Amorim was named Manchester United boss on November 1 but waited more than three weeks to finally stand in the dugout.
Amorim finished up his final few games with Sporting before the international break and led United into battle against Ipswich Town.
Marcus Rashford handed Amorim a dream start with an early goal but that was about as good as it got.
Ipswich claimed a deserved point in a 1-1 draw and could have had more on another day as United served up a poor performance.
We couldn’t possibly blame Amorim for that but Andre Onana was named Man of the Match for a reason as he kept Ipswich at bay.

Noussair Mazraoui on Ruben Amorim
Amorim wants United to control games after going ahead with Sunday’s display ultimately nowhere near where he wants to take United.
This project will take some time and Amorim will need backing in order to take United forward.
Amorim has at least impressed in interviews and press conferences with his personality and charisma really shining through.
United defender Noussair Mazraoui has now shared his view of Amorim whilst speaking to Sky Sports.
Mazraoui noted that his first impression of Amorim is a positive win and praised his social skills as ‘really good’.
The Moroccan feels that Amorim is able to get his messages across efficiently and everybody in the United squad knows exactly what he wants.
“My first impressions are really good,” said Mazraoui.
“His social skills are really good, he is on point – everybody understands what he says,” he added.
Mazraoui on his new position
As part of Amorim’s first United lineup, he deployed Mazraoui as a right-sided centre back.
Mazraoui signed for United from Bayern Munich over the summer and we have mostly seen him play as a right back or left back.
Amorim deployed Mazraoui as part of his back three though, testing him in a fairly unfamiliar position.
Mazraoui has now told Sky Sports that he doesn’t know whether he will play there more in the future and will leave that up to Amorim.
Mazraoui noted that he has been a versatile performer since joining United, playing in four positions already.
“That’s a question for Ruben [Amorim] I think! Let me say, whenever the coach needs me, I play,” said Mazraoui.
“I think in just three months here I’ve played already in four positions, so that says enough,” he added.
Amorim praised Mazraoui after Saturday’s draw, suggesting that he will be ‘crucial’ for United moving forward.
Mazraoui is happy to play anywhere to help the United cause and we would expect him to stay in the back three for the immediate future.
