The bad news keeps on coming for Manchester United right now. Luke Shaw faces a spell on the sidelines.

Earlier, we ranked the 11 things which have gone wrong for Manchester United already in 2023/24. There is another entry to the list.

Defender Luke Shaw has suffered an injury blow, report The Athletic, which could keep him out for an extended period.

David Ornstein reports: “Luke Shaw has suffered a muscular injury + is expected to be sidelined for an extended period. Assessments ongoing in hope 28yo left-back will miss weeks rather than months.”

How Manchester United will deal with Shaw injury

Tyrell Malacia is currently sidelined and has missed all pre-season. He is not yet back in training.

Meanwhile Brandon Williams has just been sent out on loan to Ipswich Town for the season, with that move sanctioned today.

Instead it will be Diogo Dalot who steps in at left-back, he played the role late last season, and also played there on loan at AC Milan.

United may elect to now keep Alvaro Fernandez as cover. Sky Sports had reported there were talks with Granada over a loan.

Growing Manchester United injury list

The injuries are beginning to pile up now. Mason Mount is set to miss a month, while new signing Rasmus Hojlund is also sidelined.

Kobbie Mainoo and Amad are also out of action, along with Malacia, and back-up goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
