Bruno Fernandes’ impressive season for Manchester United has been overlooked everywhere apart from the data.

Overlooked in the running for Premier League awards, and even the EA Team of the Season, Bruno Fernandes has not had the credit his season has deserved.

With 13 goals and 16 assists in all competitions, Fernandes has been a near ever-present for the Red Devils, regularly captaining the team.

Data from FotMob backs up how excellent the Portuguese star has been – the best player in the league in fact.

Bruno Fernandes named as Premier League best player

The 2022/23 Premier League season is now over, and it is Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes who has the best statistical rating of any performer.

FotMob data gives Fernandes an average rating for the season of 7.80, including 10 ‘player of the match’ awards.

This is ahead of City’s Erling Haaland, in second with an average rating of 7.76, and nine player of the match awards.

Fernandes is the only Manchester United player in the top five, with Kevin de Bruyne, Rodri, and Kieran Trippier placed third to fifth.

This comes amid a campaign in which Fernandes created 119 goalscoring chances, the highest of any Manchester United player since Opta records began.

We had previously reported how Fernandes received the highest rating of any player at the 2022 World Cup. On that occasion too, Fernandes’ excellence went largely overlooked.

But Manchester United fans know what a special player we have. Fernandes is the heartbeat of Erik ten Hag’s team, a key player creatively and in terms of leadership.

With a top striker hopefully set to be signed, we will see the best of the Portuguese star next season. That’s the exciting part, that Fernandes is likely to get even better.
