Manchester United have not ruled out the possibility of a move for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.
One of the early themes of Manchester United’s transfer window is a desire to add defenders to the squad.
The mission has been partly accomplished with the high profile signing of Lille wonderkid Leny Yoro, just 18.
Yoro is seen as a starting centre-back, but United may still be looking for further depth, with Matthijs de Ligt a key target.

Manchester United aware of Trevor Chalobah situation
Matthijs de Ligt is Manchester United’s key priority to add as competition at the back, however, the latest bid was rejected by Bayern Munich.
Beyond that, the options are less clear. Jarrad Branthwaite is too expensive with Everton looking for £70 million.
A name who has been linked earlier in the window is a less exciting one, yet a functional and more reasonably priced player, and one who is highly available.
The Independent reported in May that Manchester United were interested in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, who was then valued at £25 million.
Now, Trevoh Chalobah has been made available for transfer, with Chelsea leaving him off their USA tour squad and telling him to find a new club.

Manchester United latest stance
Manchester United remain in the mix to sign Trevoh Chalobah and see him as a useful potential signing.
Ben Jacobs tells Give Me Sport: “Manchester United hold a genuine interest and are intent on signing a second centre-back having already added Leny Yoro from Lille.
“If Aaron Wan-Bissaka goes to West Ham United, Chalobah’s ability to play at right-back would be seen as an asset.”
In the event Manchester United sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka, a new right-back would surely be signed. Guela Doue and Noussair Mazraouri are among those mentioned.
But having a centre-back who can also fill in at right-back, is a useful option to have. United learned last season how the defence can be stretched with injuries.
This certainly makes Chalobah an interesting ‘budget-friendly’ option if needs must. With Chelsea pushing him out the door, his £25 million valuation is more likely to go down than up.
