Ruud van Nistelrooy is forever welcome at Old Trafford.
Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy returned to Old Trafford for the first time since he left the club in November as caretaker manager.
The former Manchester United striker rejoined the club in the summer as a coach to work with Erik ten Hag.
Van Nistelrooy took charge on an interim basis for four matches following Ten Hag’s dismissal, but Ruben Amorim decided to stick with the coaching staff he enjoyed success with at Sporting CP.
The Dutch coach left United as a result, but he quickly returned to employment when Leicester City offered him the managerial role. Van Nistelrooy has been given the difficult task of keeping Leicester in the Premier League.
The FA Cup fourth-round tie finished 2-1 as United beat Leicester with a stoppage-time winner from Harry Maguire. However, the Reds had to force a comeback after conceding the opening goal before half-time.
It made for a dramatic encounter and Van Nistelrooy was frustrated by how Maguire appeared to be in an offside position for the late winner.

Manchester United send classy message to Ruud van Nistelrooy
The Premier League has seen few strikers better than Van Nistelrooy.
Van Nistelrooy scored 150 goals in just 219 games for United before leaving to join Real Madrid in 2006.
The Dutchman was a fans’ favourite during his time at Old Trafford and his name is still sung on the terraces.
With that in mind, United sent a special message to Van Nistelrooy after the game.
The club took to Instagram with the following message for its former goalscorer/coach: “You’re always welcome at Old Trafford, Ruud – best of luck for the rest of the season.”
United’s post was accompanied by photos of Van Nistelrooy with Casemiro, Victor Lindelof and Bruno Fernandes.
Van Nistelrooy under pressure at Leicester City
Leicester City may have crashed out of the FA Cup on Friday night, but their form in the Premier League is a greater concern for Van Nistelrooy and his coaching staff.
The Foxes are 18th in the Premier League and they’re set for a relegation scrap this season.
Everybody knew it would be a difficult job for Van Nistelrooy to take over from Steve Cooper at the King Power Stadium, but everyone at United would like to see him pull it off.
Leicester City enjoyed a big win over Tottenham recently, but they’ve lost four of their last five matches across all competitions. That kind of form will see them playing Championship football next term.
