Manchester United are ready to enter talks with David de Gea regarding the possibility of him signing a new long-term deal at the club, 90min claim.
The Spaniard has been back to his imperious best this season and has undoubtedly been United’s most consistent player.
Although de Gea couldn’t keep out Jay Rodriguez on Tuesday night, he did deny Wout Weghorst with a stunning save which drew praise from Burnley’s goalscorer.
Speaking via the club’s official website on de Gea, Rodriguez said: “It was [a fantastic save from David De Gea]. He’s world class and pulls those saves out week in, week out.”

The 31-year-old has 18 months left on his current contract, but the Reds do have the option to extend his stay by a further year.
Only Cristiano Ronaldo (£510,000-per-week) earns more than de Gea (£375,000-per-week) in the United squad, according to Spotrac.

After signing for the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid in 2011, United’s number one is ready to extend his stay in Manchester, according to 90min.
Gianluigi Buffon, 44, has shown that goalkeeper’s can stay at the top of the game well into their 40s.
And De Gea only has to look at his teammate Ronaldo, who turned 37 on Saturday, for inspiration when it comes to longevity and motivation to stay at the top of the game.
Contract talks are expected to be accelerated throughout the year and there is every chance that the Spanish international could finish his career at Old Trafford.

However, a new contract for de Gea isn’t likely to be well-received in the Dean Henderson camp.
The one-time England international was keen to secure a move away from the Theatre of Dreams in the January window, in a bid to secure first team football.
But similarly to Jesse Lingard a move didn’t come to fruition and there is every chance that Henderson won’t feature for United again this season.
Unlike Lingard, Henderson’s United contract runs until 2025 and a summer move will probably be sanctioned as he looks to fight his way into Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.

De Gea on the other hand looks a nailed on favourite to win United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for a record fifth time.
After being written off last year, the man who was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson is back at the peak of his powers.
David de Gea’s biggest short-term challenge is getting his Manchester United teammates to match his consistency as we enter the crucial phase of the season.
