Manchester United supporters have blocked the entrance to the Old Trafford Megastore as part of ongoing protest against the Glazers.
The protest is timed to coincide with Manchester United’s home kit release, with the 2023/24 shirt going on sale at 9am online.
A video posted via BBC Sport’s Simon Stone showed the group blocking the entrance to the Megastore.
The group gathered ahead of the planned Megastore opening at 10am. Protest group The 1958 claimed the store had been shut down.
Glazers must go
The 1958 announced plans for the protest over the weekend, planning a ‘visible presence’ outside the Megastore.
Accompanied by the message, ‘Don’t feed Glazer greed’, the protest seeks to make a small dent in early sales of the new kit, while reinforcing anger against the current owners.
Since announcing plans for ‘strategic investment’ last November, the takeover process has dragged on at a snail’s pace, with no clear indication of whether the owners are even keen to sell.
Finnish bidder, Thomas Zilliacus, an outsider, wrote on Twitter over the weekend: “How many more months shall we read about United takeover news? This is already the most farcical club takeover in history.
“Never seen anyone so unable to make a decision.”
The way the process has dragged on into late June, is already beginning to overshadow Manchester United’s preparations for the 2023/24 season.
The 1958 have previously led several large scale pre-match protests against the Glazers, and do not intend to let up until they have gone.
