Manchester United’s opponents for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals have been confirmed.
Manchester United will face Charlton Athletic at Old Trafford. Landing a home tie was crucial, irrespective of opponent.
The draw for the tie was conducted by Shay Given and Manchester United women’s goalkeeper Mary Earps, who picked out Charlton.
League One side Charlton reached the quarter-finals after beating Brighton on penalties this week.
Manchester United will be without star midfielder Bruno Fernandes for the fixture, due to suspension after he picked up two yellow cards in the two early rounds. Bookings will be wiped out after the quarter-finals.
United qualified for the quarter-finals after beating Aston Villa 4-2 in the third round and Burnley 2-0 in the fourth round earlier this week.

The quarter-final will be played in early 2023 in the week commencing January 9, with date and kick-off time to be confirmed.
Manchester United last won the Carabao Cup in 2017, when Jose Mourinho was manager, beating Southampton in the final.
Last season the side were eliminated in the third round by West Ham. Liverpool won the trophy last season but were eliminated earlier tonight by Manchester City.
The Red Devils are looking to win a trophy in Erik ten Hag’s first season and his team selection in the early rounds shows he is taking the competition seriously.
Elsewhere in the draw, Southampton host Manchester City, Newcastle host Leicester City, and Nottingham Forest host Wolves.
