All the latest as Manchester United’s latest signing begins his career on loan in Switzerland.

Manchester United confirmed the transfer of Enzo Kana-Biyik this past week, and he was instantly sent out on loan.

Kana-Biyik became the first Manchester United player loaned between two Ineos Sport clubs, sent to Swiss side Lausanne Sport.

Lausanne described the teenage striker as a ‘powerful and technical’ forward after announcing the season long loan deal.

Enzo Kana-Biyik makes debut

It has been a whirlwind few days for Enzo Kana-Biyik, making his debut for Lausanne in a pre-season friendly on Saturday July 12.

Kana-Biyik was named in the starting XI as Lausanne took on Swiss second-tier opponents Etoile Carouge.

Lausanne won the game 4-2, with Enzo Kana-Biyik getting his first taste of action playing for his new club.

He was not among the goalscorers, with Kaly Sene, Bryan Okoh, Gaoussou Diakate, and former Barcelona prospect Konrad De La Fuente on the scoresheet.

Lausanne played a second friendly on the same day, fielding a completely different XI who lost 2-1 to Stade Nyonnais.

Kana-Biyik battling for Europa Conference League chance

Unlike Manchester United, Lausanne could be playing European football this season; they are set to compete in the Europa Conference League qualifiers later this month.

This presents a unique opportunity for Kana-Biyik to show what he is capable of, if the Swiss side can make the group stages of the competition.

But just featuring in the qualifying rounds would be impressive progress for the former Le Havre talent, as he would be playing academy football at United if he was not loaned out.

His immediate task is to earn a spot in their team for those matches. Lausanne’s ability to field two XIs in a day shows they are not short of options, and while he will be disappointed not to mark his debut with a goal, the United loanee has made his first step by simply being out there.
