Manchester United have provided a latest status for Marcus Rashford’s fitness heading into this week’s Europa League match with Sevilla.

Marcus Rashford limped out of the win over Everton at the weekend with Manchester United 2-0 up.

United’s early preview for the fixture does not rule Rashford out, it simply states: “He is a doubt for this game.”

The update clarifies the nature of Rashford’s injury as ‘a groin problem’.

United must plan without Rashford

At this stage it looks likely Marcus Rashford will miss the game with Sevilla, and quite probably the tie with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

But at present, Manchester United have not officially ruled him out, not disclosing the results of any scans which have taken place.

Rashford is United’s top scorer for the season with 28 goals. Bruno Fernandes is the nearest player to him, with 10 goals.

Former star Wes Brown has called on United’s players to ‘step up’ in Rashford’s absence.

Luke Shaw status also unclear

Marcus Rashford is not the only Manchester United player we are awaiting clarification on.

Luke Shaw missed the Everton game after limping off against Brentford in the first half last Wednesday.

It is unclear if he will be available against Sevilla. Erik ten Hag will provide an update on both players in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
