Jonny Evans signs
The Athletic report Jonny Evans has signed a short-term contract until the end of July. He is in the pre-season squad to face Lyon tomorrow.
He had been training with the club at the weekend, and BBC Sport report he has impressed Erik ten Hag behind the scenes at Carrington.
There is already speculation the move could turn into more than a short-term switch.

BBC Sport’s Simon Stone said on Twitter: “I am not alone in thinking Man Utd could have reduced some of the stress around the central defensive position if they had not sold Jonny Evans in the first-place. They could do worse than turn that into a one-year deal.”
Premier League title winner
The recent releases of Phil Jones and David de Gea had removed the last players at Manchester United to win a Premier League title.
Now with Jonny Evans in the squad, the side have a Premier League title winner back in the dressing room once again.
Evans won three Premier League titles, playing 198 games for the club before being axed by Louis van Gaal. He went on to win the FA Cup at Leicester City.
