Manchester United are eyeing up a move for PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo, The Telegraph report.

Earlier today ESPN reported Gakpo is keen on a move to Manchester United if a deal can be agreed.

Erik ten Hag knows Gakpo well after the Dutch forward scored the winning goal for PSV Eindhoven against Ajax in the KNVB Cup final in April.

The Manchester United manager’s connections could also play a key role in smoothing Gakpo’s path to Old Trafford.

United have advantage to sign Cody Gakpo

Erik ten Hag and Cody Gakpo are both represented by the same agency, SEG, report The Telegraph.

This could become a key factor, while PSV value Gakpo at a very affordable £35 million.

Gakpo can play across the front three and scored 21 goals last season for his side as PSV pushed Ten Hag’s Ajax all the way in the chase for the Eredivisie title.

PSV and Monaco play a crucial Champions League qualifier tonight which could have a bearing on the player’s future. The winners could play Rangers in the next round, with a place in the group stages on the line.

A Monaco win would be good for Manchester United’s pursuit of Gakpo, removing a potential complication from the mix, while it has been reported Monaco could even try to sign United target Adrien Rabiot if they win.
