There has not been a lot of good news for Manchester United lately. But one really positive development occurred yesterday with Kobbie Mainoo making a return to full training.
Kobbie Mainoo is the wonderkid who was setting Manchester United’s pre-season alight, starring against Lyon, Leeds and Arsenal.
Then, as a test against Real Madrid awaited, Mainoo suffered an injury after just five minutes and has been out ever since.
Now after missing the first two months of the season, Mainoo is back in first team training, with a view to making his return.

Manchester United supporters on Kobbie Mainoo return
Manchester United fans have been expressing excitement at seeing Mainoo back with the first team squad.
“Our boy is back,” one excited supporter wrote, while another fan wrote: “Our best midfielder.”
A third fan added, “Happy to have him back and we can’t wait to see what ETH has in stock for him this season.”
A fourth supporter commented, “Mainoo is back in training. Brings a smile to my face.”
Another fan wrote: “So excited to see him back playing for us again. He has the potential to be the best young defensive midfielder in the world.”
More high hopes were expressed, with a supporter writing: “Kobbie Mainoo being back is a huge boost.”
A further comment added: “You can’t underestimate the impact these returning players will have. Mainoo will bring added competition and young, hungry legs into midfield.”
Kobbie Mainoo’s journey so far
Kobbie Mainoo was part of Manchester United’s FA Youth Cup winning side in 2022 along with Alejandro Garnacho and Dan Gore.
Both players were also involved in the training session, with Garnacho now a regular, and Gore making his first team debut last week.
Mainoo made his debut back in January, appearing in the Carabao Cup, Premier League and FA Cup.
Tonight’s Champions League game may come too soon, a place on the bench as an unused substitute is the best bet, but it is only a matter of time before we see Mainoo get his 2023/24 season up and running.
