Dan Gore details exactly what Erik ten Hag told him before he came on during United’s win

Dan Gore made his professional debut for Manchester United during the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

It turned out to be a great birthday for the 19-year-old as he was given 30 minutes during the game and looked impressive out there against Premier League opposition.

The teenager looked impressive during pre-season but last night’s rather impressive cameo was certainly a step up and the midfielder’s rather quick acclimatisation to the Premier League meant that he did not look out of place at all when he came on.

The youngster agreed to talk to the United website and looked confident during his interview, much like his demeanour on the pitch.

Gore on his debut

“I don’t think words can describe this feeling,” Gore said when asked what it meant to him to make his debut for the club. “Just seeing the fans cheer my name was a special moment for me.”

“He (Erik ten Hag) told me to go out and enjoy myself and to express myself and that I deserved this chance.”

The midfielder looked assured and positive and, judging from that cameo, it seems unlikely that this will be the last we see of the talented teenager.

Gore’s impact

Prior to this season, the only thing we knew about the young midfielder was that he wasn’t afraid to defend himself.

The now 19-year-old reportedly had a bust-up with Anthony Martial back in November after Gore put in a strong tackle on the French forward and the former AS Monaco striker retaliated but the talented midfield refused to back down according to The Guardian.

Martial later apologised for the incident and the pair made up but clearly not a lot phases the talented teenager.

The midfielder looked calm and confident on the pitch during Tuesday’s win and it seems Gore may well be ready for more first-team opportunities when they arise.
