Brazilian midfielder Fred left Manchester United in the summer and is proving a success at Fenerbahce.

While Manchester United are on a losing streak right now, one midfielder who left the club can’t stop winning.

Fred has played six games for Fenerbahce in all competitions and won all six. The latest was a 3-1 Europa Conferences League victory last night over Nordsjaelland.

Fred provided two assists last night, his first for the club, setting up two first half goals scored by Miguel Crespo and Michy Batshuayi.

Fred shines as Manchester United midfield toils

Moving on from Fred felt like it was inevitable sooner rather than later. He had only one year left on his contract at United.

Replacing him with Sofyan Amrabat also gives United a more balanced midfield, however, the Moroccan was signed late, and has not yet been passed fit to play.

So in the very short-term, United appear worse off for Fred’s departure, with midfield a real problem so far this season.

A fixture in United’s line-up for so long, with Scott McTominay, supporters are left wondering whether the wrong midfielder was let go, especially after the Scot’s poor cameo performance last night.

There is a difference in level, of course, facing Bayern and playing against Nordsjaelland, however, it is good to see Fred thriving and enjoying a successful start at his new club.

He wrote in a post-match message on X.com: “Well done guys. Great victory at home. Thanks God!”

Manchester United fans react to Fred performance

Fred’s message was inundated with responses from Manchester United fans, along with jubilant Fenerbahce supporters.

“Come back Fred and let Scott go the other way”, one Red Devils supporter wrote.

Another wrote, “Hey united called they sold the wrong midfielder.”

A third supporter said: “We missed you at Manchester united.”

A fourth messaged: “Come back to Manchester Eriksen is tired and no substitute.”

Another fan wrote: “You are being missed at United,” while there was another who said: “We miss your energy.”

Fred’s exit being lamented shows how badly Manchester United’s season has gone. Let’s hope it picks up.
