Signing on a free, Erik ten Hag took a punt on the Danish veteran following his resurgence in Premier League football at Brentford, which paid off.
Eriksen is a very experienced player who still offers a lot for the first-team squad at Old Trafford.

It was Lisandro Martinez’s birthday on Thursday, with the former Ajax centre-half turning 26.
Manchester United’s official Instagram account messaged United players to get them to send a message to Martinez, stating what gift they’d send to him.
Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund decided to be very cheeky with his answer, but his fellow countryman Eriksen was very professional with his answer – and fans loved it.
He said: ‘Oh wow, no idea. Get him 3 points next game he plays,’ with a winky face emoji.
What a fantastic attitude from Eriksen, which fans lapped up.
