Manchester United duo Bruno Fernandes and David de Gea are looking forward to reuniting with former star Nani.

Fresh after beating Liverpool 4-0 in Erik ten Hag’s first game in charge of the Red Devils, the Dutchman, his coaching staff and 31-man squad headed for Australia.

United will play three games Down Under the first of which will come against Melbourne Victory on Friday.

The friendly against the A-League side will see Ten Hag’s men come up against former winger Nani who signed for his new club earlier this week.

Nani is embarking on a new chapter in his illustrious career after spending the second half of last season in Serie A with Venezia.

The 35-year-old returned to Italy in January where he played alongside fellow former Red Sergio Romero, but the pair couldn’t prevent the Venice-based side from being relegated to Serie B.

But unlike Romero, the Portuguese international has found a new club and will be hoping to have a successful chapter in Oceania after signing a two-year contract.

The winger’s debut for Melbourne Victory could see him come up against some familiar faces.

Having joined United from Sporting Lisbon in 2007 alongside Owen Hargreaves, Anderson and Carlos Tevez, the four-time Premier League winner left United on a permanent deal in 2015 and joined Fenerbahce having spent a year back on loan at Lisbon as part of the Marcos Rojo deal.

Nani, who won the Champions League with the Red Devils and scored 41 goals alongside 73 assists from 230 games, has never played against United during his career.

Two United stars who are looking forward to seeing their former teammate are Fernandes and De Gea.

The 112-time Portuguese international played 57 times alongside the Spaniard for the Reds and he played with Fernandes 27 times for their beloved Sporting Lisbon.

But the United duo are hoping that Nani is fit enough to feature on Friday and sent their former teammate a message on Instagram.

Fernandes’ message translates: “I’ll see you soon.”

United’s clash against Melbourne Victory on Friday kicks off at 11:05am.
