Former Manchester United forward Nani has signed for Australian side Melbourne Victory who the Red Devils play on Friday.
The 35-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the A-League side following his release from Italian side Venezia.
Nani joined fellow former Red Sergio Romero at Venezia in January after making the move back to Europe from MLS side Orlando City.
But the pair couldn’t prevent Venezia from getting relegated to Serie B.
Erik ten Hag’s first game in charge of Manchester United will see him pit his wits against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at 2pm today in Bangkok, Thailand.
Following the clash against our fierce rivals, the Red Devils will head for Australia where we will face Nani’s Melbourne Victory in our first of three games Down Under.
Nani signs for Melbourne Victory
The four-time Premier League winner made 230 appearances for Manchester United after being signed by Sir Alex Ferguson from Sporting Lisbon in 2007.
The 2008 Champions League winner produced 41 goals and 73 assists from his appearances for United.
As well as returning to Sporting Lisbon, the 112-time Portugal international had spells with Fenerbahce, Valencia and Lazio.
Speaking about his delight in moving to Melbourne Victory, Nani told the club’s website: “I’m excited to be coming to the A-League with Melbourne Victory and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead.
“I have spoken with the coach, Tony [Popovic], and I know that Melbourne Victory is a club that wants to achieve success and I want to play a role in helping the team achieve that.
“From what I have seen, the fans in Melbourne are not only the best in the league but they rival the atmosphere in Europe and I’m looking forward to being a part of that on the field in a Victory shirt and playing for them this season.”
Nani, who will wear his favoured number 17 shirt for his new club, will no doubt be hoping to make his Melbourne Victory debut against Manchester United on Friday.
