Mason Greenwood is going from strength to strength at Getafe with the Manchester United forward rediscovering his ‘best physical level’ away from the Premier League giants.
Sevilla appointed their third head coach of the season already this week, former Watford coach Quique Sanchez Flores now the man trying to make himself comfortable in the hottest of La Liga hotseats.
Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat by Getafe proved to be the final straw for Diego Alonso. The embattled boss going the same way as Luis Mendilibar after Mason Greenwood and co ran riot at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Greenwood, on loan in Spain from Manchester United, started slowly after such a long time out of the game. But, in the words of Getafe coach Jose Bordalas, he is now adding the fitness and the physicality to match all that raw talent.

Mason Greenwood thriving away from Manchester United
“He hadn’t played for many months. He has had a hard time reaching his best physical level (but) he has the talent,” Bordalas tells Cope.
“Adapting to a new league, new teammates, a language… he has integrated very well. (I am) very happy. His team-mates help him a lot.
“As I always say, our strength is the group and the collective.”
That may be true. But it’s Greenwood – a player who’s natural ability far outstrips almost everyone else in the Getafe squad – who is making a European charge possible. Bordalas’ side climbed up to eight with that Sevilla spanking. The England international scoring one and setting up another as he took his La Liga tally to three goals and four assists from just 10 starts.
Barcelona and Real Madrid keen
Getafe president Angel Torres has made no secret of his desire to turn Greenwood’s loan into a permanent deal. But with 90Min reporting that Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are among those who could offer him a clean break from Manchester United, Torres’ comments feel like wishful thinking.
