Manchester United’s season has been underwhelming but on the bright side there are some extremely exciting academy prospects coming through the ranks.
Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United was yet another setback in Manchester United’s season, with the Red Devils slumped in 14th in the Premier League table without a win in their last four matches.

There is huge pressure on Ruben Amorim to win the Europa League this season as the only pathway to Champions League qualification remaining.
But the Portuguese coach will also have one eye on the future and next season, and that is precisely why he trusted Harry Amass to make his first start in the Premier League against Newcastle.

Manager made ‘personal call’ over Harry Amass progress
Amass impressed against Newcastle on Sunday, despite his first start ending in a miserable defeat.
Amorim chose to rest Patrick Dorgu and Harry Amass took his opportunity with both hands. The 18-year-old starred in United’s pre-season tour but had to be patient to make his way into the first team this season.
Over the March international break, Amass shined for England’s Under-18s and according to the Daily Mail, manager Liam Bramley was so impressed that he reached out to club officials.
Bramley reportedly made a “personal call” to United staff to “wax lyrical of Amass’ maturity, leadership and his development.”
United insiders have been impressed by Amass’ mentality at Carrington, and it seems that carried over to national duty last month.
Harry Amass is ready to compete for Man United starting spot
Amorim has stubbornly stuck to his tactics since arriving at United, so his 3-4-2-1 system is going nowhere anytime soon.
That means Amorim will need specialist wing-backs, and Patrick Dorgu will need competition for the left wing-back spot.
Against Newcastle, Amass superbly handled an in-form Jacob Murphy, and Amorim pinpointed his performance as a rare shining light in an otherwise dim match.

“I think he did quite well. He caught a player that is really fast, he debuted in maybe one of the hardest stadiums with one team that is in a good moment,” Amorim said.
If Amass can kick on and impress during United’s post-season tour this summer, he could be in line to fight for a starting spot in 2025/26.
