Manchester United do have hope for the future thanks to an array of youth talent working their way into the first team.
We all knew Erik ten Hag‘s stint at Manchester United would be a job for the long haul, and so it is proving.
But if you said Anthony Martial would still be a starter in 2023, then why expect anything to have substantially changed?
There is hope on the horizon, not just with Martial’s expiring contract. There is a lot of young talent coming through at the club.
This was more evident than ever at Carrington yesterday when the club’s brightest six young players were seen in training together.

Manchester United’s six young stars of the future
As the team prepared for the clash with Bayern Munich, six young players grouped together and looked in great spirits.
Alejandro Garnacho: The reigning Premier League goal of the month winner, Alejandro Garnacho, 19, is now a regular in the Manchester United team and has displaced Marcus Rashford.
Kobbie Mainoo: Manchester United’s midfield starlet, Kobbie Mainoo, 18, has made three appearances this season since returning from injury, including his recent Champions League debut.
Rasmus Hojlund: Don’t let the high price tag distract you from the fact Rasmus Hojlund, 20, could still be playing under-21 football. The striker is currently the Champions League’s top goalscorer, and while the wait for a Premier League goal goes on, it’s only a matter of time.
Amad: Back in training at last after a pre-season injury, Amad can play in a range of roles across United’s attack. The 21-year-old struck 16 goals out on loan last season and can contribute if given he chance.
Hannibal: Another young player who has proven his quality this season, Hannibal has made his Champions League debut and scored his first Premier League goal. The 20-year-old is out of favour currently, but still has a bright future.
Dan Gore: Manchester United are keeping youngster Dan Gore around the first team squad, he made his debut in the Carabao Cup earlier this season. The 19-year-old could see more action in 2024.
Manchester United must utilise young talents
The pressure at Manchester United is relentless and there is a very fine balancing act for manager Erik ten Hag to get right. He can’t throw all six in at the same time, and there need to be experienced players around them.
But each of Hojlund, Garnacho, Hannibal and Mainoo have shone in brief moments this season, offering glimpses of the future.
There are many more bright young talents in the ranks too, but these six players are right in the mix now, getting the chance to impress Erik ten Hag on a daily basis.
Ten Hag will use them as he sees fit, and they must each remain patient and grab their opportunities when they arrive.
