Man Utd told to get ‘in touch’ with Arsenal star to replace Champions League problem player

Andre Onana had another night to forget in the Champions League as he conceded two free-kicks costing Manchester United dearly.

Summer signing Andre Onana failed to replicate his form from the Premier League into the Champions League on Wednesday night.

He made a few decent saves, but ultimately it is his blunders which cost United in the 3-3 draw with not one but two poor free kicks managing to find their way past the Cameroon international.

The first saw Onana’s poor positioning see him caught out by Hakim Ziyech’s free-kick. The second saw him save the shot initially before he effectively pushed it into his own net.

The £43m goalkeeper has also been slammed by Paul Scholes who has accused him of unnerving his defenders, and now Manchester United have been advised to find a replacement ‘ASAP’.

Manchester United told to contact Aaron Ramsdale

After the game, former Republic of Ireland international Jonathan Walters took to X with his verdict on the game. This verdict entailed criticisms of one player in particular, that being Andre Onana.

He wrote: “If David de Gea put in that performance tonight he would be getting it from all angles.”

Before continuing to bizarrely suggest a replacement for Onana should be Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal.

“I’m sorry but Onana isn’t good enough for Man Utd and if I were them I would be getting in touch with Ramsdale’s agent asap.”

Would Manchester United sign Aaron Ramsdale to replace Andre Onana?

This move would be a very unlikely one for multiple different reasons, the main and most definite being Arsenal wouldn’t exactly do United a favour. The price would be hiked up and Ramsdale isn’t even worth the £50m they’re quoted as wanting.

Reason number two is that it is ridiculous to sack off Onana now. He had a rocky start but in the main throughout the past few Premier League games, he’s been rock solid.

With the joint most clean sheets in the league, he is showing signs of being good enough and two – albeit huge – mistakes change nothing, and it sure won’t convince Erik ten Hag to replace him.

Blaming Onana for United being potentially out of Europe is silly as the entire team deserves blame. We threw away Galatasaray at home, Copenhagen away and even Bayern Munich away where we should’ve got something.

That being said, Onana needs a huge performance against Newcastle on Saturday to redeem himself.
