Rasmus Hojlund is loving life right now at both the international and club football levels, and his rival in the league says he already has a reputation in Italy.

Life in Napoli has got off to a hot start for Rasmus Hojlund, scoring on his debut and becoming a key man for Antonio Conte thereafter.

That revitalised confidence has transferred to the Danish international team as well, with Hojlund scoring for fun for his national side.

It seems the league has woken up to his qualities, as his international teammate and Serie A rival, Gustav Isaken of Lazio, said recently.

Even when he was struggling at Old Trafford, it spoke volumes about Hojlund that his teammates loved him, and Ruben Amorim didn’t have a bad word to say about him.

The same is magnified now that he is succeeding on the pitch as well, lending credence to his hard work that was always there.

Lazio’s Danish player, Isaksen, recently said Hojlund has a reputation to uphold in Italy now.

Isaksen said: “[Italian teammates at Lazio] always say he’s one of the best, so I think a lot of people have recognised how good he is. They consistently say he’s among the top players, yes.”

So far, Hojlund is living up to that reputation, terrorising defences with his goalscoring and sterling striker play, especially feeding off Kevin de Bruyne’s service.

It was always known that Hojlund is a better player than what he was able to show at United, but to be coined “one of the best” by his direct Serie A rival, albeit his national teammate, is quite a turnaround.

Man Utd will be happy for Hojlund

The list of players who have rediscovered their spark after leaving Man Utd is long, but United will be happy with Rasmus Hojlund’s form.

The Dane is a boyhood United fan who didn’t stop trying until his last game and wanted to stay at the club even when the club was pushing him out.

He was a model professional to the end, and there was a recognition among Man Utd fans that his failure at the club was as much to do with confidence as it was about ability.

He’s proving the same with his exploits at Napoli, and the club and its fans will be happy to see a boyhood United fan tearing it up after leaving.

With Scott McTominay also in the ranks, Napoli have become somewhat of a fan favourite for United fans in Italy.
