Amad Diallo is enjoying a breakthrough season at Manchester United.
Although the Ivorian winger has been at Manchester United since 2021, Amad Diallo is finally getting a chance with runs in the team.
This will come as a great relief to Amad, who is exceeding expectations, after being overlooked on several occasions by Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman started Noussair Mazraoui in the No.10 role earlier this season while naming Amad on the bench.
Now, Amad is one of the first names on Ruben Amorim’s team sheet.
While the headlines focus on Marcus Rashford’s future, Amad is proving to be an example as a young player, determined to earn a place in the team.
The Ivory Coast international is showing the rest of his team-mates how it is done.
After scoring the winner in United’s 2-1 win over Manchester City, Amorim decided to rest Amad against Tottenham, but he had to call on the forward to come on to change the game in United’s favour.
Amad registered a goal and assist after coming on but it wasn’t enough for United to secure their place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals. It was Tottenham who progressed before drawing Liverpool in the next round.

Amad Diallo numbers compared to £100m Jack Grealish
You will notice something major if you break down the numbers from Jack Grealish over the past 18 months and Amad this season.
After costing Manchester City £100 million in 2021, Grealish has blown hot and cold under Pep Guardiola.
The England international has managed just 8 goal contributions over the past 18 months which is nowhere near enough to warrant a price tag of £100m.
It gets a little more embarrassing for Grealish when you see a young player at United, who is enjoying a breakthrough season, outscore him with goals and assists this season alone.
Amad has 12 goal contributions this season after emerging as one of Amorim’s most important players.
United’s first-team has been lacking goals but the Ivorian is showing no signs of stopping yet.
Marcus Rashford could learn from Amad
The way Amad handles himself is second to none. He loves playing for United and nothing will get in the way of that.
Like Marcus Rashford, Amad has had differences with managers. He was overlooked regularly by Ten Hag but never gave up – jumping at any opportunity that came his way to play in United’s first-team.
It doesn’t help Rashford that he walks around with a bemused demeanour rather than chase the ball down and help his team-mates. Amad is the opposite and the 27-year-old could learn a thing or two from his work ethic on the pitch.
Amad’s goal against Tottenham is proof that hard work pays off.
United need players who are willing to put the football club first. That is a requirement when you play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
