Marcus Rashford intends to leave Manchester United after a 20-year-plus spell at his boyhood club.
While it’s a big decision, Rashford made his feelings public after being dropped from the matchday squad for United’s 2-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
The news came as a shock to Manchester United fans, with the bombshell dropping on Tuesday – two days before the team take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
It remains to be seen if United will try to identify any potential replacements for Rashford, but it’s worth noting that – in terms of Profit and Sustainability Rules – any sale would represent pure profit. That will be significant to Ineos as they’re trying to balance the books at Old Trafford.

Former United captain Gary Neville is the latest pundit to weigh in on the Marcus Rashford saga.
Neville told The Overlap United won’t want to risk seeing Rashford back to his best at another big Premier League club, although it remains to be seen which clubs are willing to take a risk on the under-fire forward.
“I think he’ll [Rashford] get a big club because there is a pedigree there…
“I don’t think United will want an embarrassment on their hands – they’ll probably want him abroad.”
Rashford, 27, has plenty of time to turn his career around, but he hasn’t achieved that at United over the past two years.

That won’t change because of Rashford’s statement, as the situation remains the same. It’s up to Rashford whether he wants to prove himself at the highest level or not.
Right now, with seven goals this season, Rashford is falling short of expectations and that can’t go on forever.
Rashford was absent from United’s travelling squad for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham, which means he has to do more to make a positive impression on Ruben Amorim.
Amorim is likely to welcome Rashford back into the squad if he shows his worth in training.
