Ruben Amorim is now showing the all-important signs needed for his Manchester United managerial career to be a success after making one major admission so far.
The 40-year-old Manchester United manager has faced the mountainous task of putting the Red Devils back on the right path after the end of Erik ten Hag’s reign.
Ruben Amorim is United’s sixth permanent manager in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era and the Portuguese coach took his biggest step forward in his career in 2024.
It was 2024 that marked the end of Amorim’s reign at Sporting CP, a prestigious club where he lifted three Primeira Liga titles and two Portuguese League Cups.
United rolled the dice immediately in 2024 after Erik ten Hag was sacked as manager and Amorim was brought in as his replacement at Old Trafford.
There was no honeymoon period for Amorim at the Red Devils, though, with the ex-Sporting CP manager only leading United to 15th place in the table last season.

The 2024-25 Premier League campaign was a low point for Manchester United, with Ruben Amorim unable to turn the ship around at Old Trafford during the season.
Coupled with the Red Devils’ poor run of form last season was United falling short to Tottenham in the 2025 Europa League final at the San Mames Stadium in May.
However, over the summer period, Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe cracked open United’s somewhat fragile war chest and splashed out on new signings for Ruben Amorim.
Amorim struggled at the start of the new Premier League season after an erratic run of form for United, but even he saw that this experience was different from his past roles.
“During my career as a manager, most of the time I was winning,” he told Mark Sullivan in an interview for MUTV, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“When you are winning, you can say that you have convictions and you are loyal to your ideas, but you learn when you lose, when you are under pressure and I learned that when I’m under pressure, I’m stronger on my ideas and I keep with my ideas.

Despite signing the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha in the summer, United did not click immediately at the start of the 2025-26 season.
However, Amorim weathered an incredible amount of criticism and absorbed the pressure before the Red Devils’ momentum finally kicked in over recent weeks.
United have seen a remarkable turnaround in form in October, with the Red Devils winning all three of their last three Premier League matches under Amorim.
Amorim has shown that a major catalyst for his entire United career might be remaining true to his convictions amid the outside noise and pressure around him.
“Of course, it’s really important to feel the support of everyone in the club, especially the fans that help you, to give you that confidence to continue on your path, but that was the biggest learning point: when I’m under pressure, I can stick with my plan,” he added.
Amorim’s tactical system at United was all the talk earlier this season, but a few slight tweaks to his existing plans and the noise around him has fallen silent.
