Ruben Amorim reveals what he has learned about himself after one year as Manchester United head coach.
After a slow start to the 2025/26 season, things are finally starting to look up for Manchester United.
United’s 4-2 win over Brighton made it three wins on the bounce for Ruben Amorim, which is the best record they’ve managed since the Portuguese coach arrived at Old Trafford.
The next step is stretching the win streak to four matches when United travel to Nottingham Forest on Saturday. That would not only help the side gain momentum, but it would also see the Red Devils continue their climb up the Premier League table.

Recent results have helped ease the pressure on Amorim; however, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s public backing at the start of the month was significant. Ineos are adamant that the former Sporting CP coach will get time to turn things around.

Ruben Amorim learning more about himself at Man Utd
This weekend will mark Amorim’s 53rd match in charge of United.
It comes days after Amorim was nominated for the Manager of the Month award for October. Now, the focus is on maintaining those results by starting November with a win over Forest.
Amorim warned his players about Forest and the dangerous players in Dyche’s squad, including United-linked Elliot Anderson.
Speaking to MUTV before the trip to Forest, Amorim has admitted that losing matches has provided more of an education than when he was winning league titles at Sporting, as it has convinced him further to stick with his preferred methods.
“During my career as a manager, most of the time I was winning,” Amorim said.
“When you are winning, you can say that you have convictions and you are loyal to your ideas, but you learn when you lose, when you are under pressure and I learned that when I’m under pressure, I’m stronger on my ideas and I keep with my ideas.
“Of course, it’s really important to feel the support of everyone in the club, especially the fans that help you, to give you that confidence to continue on your path, but that was the biggest learning point: when I’m under pressure, I can stick with my plan.”
Amorim won two league titles during his time at Sporting, but before achieving that at United, his focus will be on getting the team back into the Champions League.
Ruben Amorim’s first year at Man Utd in stats
Amorim is on a journey at United, and Ineos remain patient because they believe he is the right man for the job.
Some of the stats will need to be improved over the coming year, but Amorim did arrive midway through last season under difficult circumstances.
The 40-year-old has only won 21 of his 52 games in charge, which is the worst win rate (40.4%) of any United manager since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, with former interim manager Ralf Rangnick (37.9%) being the only exception.
Amorim’s average of 1.19 points per game will increase if United can continue their winning run against Forest.
