Manchester United have several players currently out on loan shining; however, for one player, Saturday brought a day to forget.
This season, Manchester United appears to have made a concerted effort during the transfer window to find well-suited loan moves for promising young players.
Recent years have seen players shipped off on loans where game time and the system are bad fits, such as with Ethan Wheatley’s struggles at Walsall last season.
However, despite the best efforts of the new loan manager, Jonny Evans, not every loan will wind up being a good fit.
Toby Collyer has had a difficult beginning at West Brom in the Championship; however, in the same league, Radek Vitek has been shining for Bristol City.
Now, this weekend has seen one player who has enjoyed a solid loan so far have a bad day at the office.
Harry Amass struggles in a 5-0 Sheffield Wednesday defeat
With Diego Leon chosen for a place in Ruben Amorim’s squad, Harry Amass was sent on loan to Sheffield Wednesday on deadline day, where he has been an immediate hit.
Amass has been improving week on week for Wednesday. Becoming a guaranteed starter for the club in turmoil.
However, that strong start for Amass was put on a hiatus as he struggled against Coventry on Saturday afternoon in a 5-0 loss.

While not a nightmare performance, it is certainly one that Amass will want to learn from and, in particular, improve his physicality so he is winning more duels.
It is also important to note that Amass is playing for a club expected to be relegated, so bad days are expected, as his teammates aren’t exactly top quality, and there is also the ownership situation.
Harry Amass cannot be writing off success at Manchester United
Despite the loan being seen negatively by some, choosing to send Amass on loan instead of Leon could mean the opposite, with the Paraguayan being preferred.
Leon hasn’t played a single minute for United this season as he slowly adapts to living in England, getting the odd appearance for the U21s.
However, Amass is getting 90 minutes every week, sometimes twice a week, and his development will be helped massively by this, and by May, he should be so much better.
Amass is a wing-back for Wednesday, and exposure to playing here will ready him for either a return to United in Amorim’s system or under a new boss.
