Manchester United loanee Dan Gore has endured a difficult season on loan, but individually it has been a success.
2022 FA Youth Cup winner Dan Gore has spent the season on loan at Rotherham United.
On one hand, Gore’s loan spell has been a major success.
Prior to this campaign, Dan Gore had been out on loan twice, at Port Vale and at Rotherham. Both spells were write-offs due to injuries. He played a total of four games.
In 2025/26, Gore has played a total of 35 matches, including 29 starts.
He has proven he is good enough to start regularly in the Football League, enduring a difficult task for a struggling team.
The downside of Gore’s loan is that he has experienced relegation, with Rotherham 22nd in League One, with only 10 wins from 43 games.
It is mathematically impossible for them to now stay up, despite registering a rare win at the weekend away at Leyton Orient.

Gore plays key role in win
Dan Gore played an important role in Rotherham United’s 2-0 win. It was their first victory since the end of February.
Gore provided the assist for Rotherham’s opener, playing a short pass from a set piece for Harry Gray to score.
It was Gore’s second assist of the season and his first in 2026; his previous was back in November.
Gore had 44 touches in total, creating two chances and attempting two shots, while winning eight of 11 duels he competed for.
Local outlet the Rotherham Advertiser praised Gore for playing with ‘spark and spite’ in midfield, and constantly probing to try and find a breakthrough.
United are concerned Adam Wharton is too similar to Kobbie Mainoo – is this a good reason to back away from a deal?
Or are two Kobbie Mainoo types actually smart to have…?
Gore out of contract
Dan Gore is out of contract this summer. Manchester United do not have an option to extend it, but could choose to offer him a new deal if they wish.
The key for Gore has been getting past his injuries and proving his quality at professional level.
Rotherham would love to keep him, but now relegated to League Two, their chances may have dwindled.
The 21-year-old is more than capable at League One level, and he will have his sights set even higher.
