Manchester United sent 10 players out on loan in January.

The biggest name, by some stretch, was Marcus Rashford after his temporary move to Aston Villa.

Most of Manchester United’s loanees from the January transfer window were sent out from the academy to experience senior football to aid their development.

That will be the case for youngsters such as Ethan Ennis, Joe Hugill, Ethan Williams and more.

However, some loan deals come with heartbreak.

Some players pick up long-term injuries while others fall out of favour with their temporary managers.

The objective for every loan move is for the player in question to get sufficient game time. It’s the only way young players like Ethan Wheatley can step up their game to challenge for a place in United’s first-team.

Dan Gore issues statement after devastating foot injury

United recently confirmed that Gore had injured his foot while on loan at Rotherham United.

The 20-year-old midfielder recorded an assist on his debut, but his injury occurred during a training session.

Gore has issued a statement via United’s official website after returning to Carrington for treatment on his foot injury.

“Having loved the start to my time here and been made to feel so welcome by everyone at the club, I am absolutely gutted to have picked up an injury,” Gore said.

“Everyone who knows me knows that I would play through any pain if I physically could but unfortunately, I need to take a few weeks out. I’ll be giving everything to get back as soon as possible to contribute to the team and be able to play in front of the fans again.”

Gore expects to be out for a few weeks

United hope that Gore will be available to feature for Rotherham United again this season, and the player himself claims he needs to take a few weeks out.

Gore suffered a serious foot injury during a previous loan spell at Port Vale.

He will be itching to get back on the pitch to not only prove himself on the senior stage, but to continue his development as a footballer.

United will be working closely with Rotherham United over the foreseeable future as Gore returns from injury.
