Darts star Luke Littler has opened up on meeting with legendary former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson after his dream visit to Old Trafford.

The 16-year-old shot to stardom after his fairytale run at the PDC World Darts Championship, with Littler falling short at the final hurdle earlier this month.

Luke Humphries defeated the teenage sensation 7-4 in the final at Alexandra Palace in London, but Littler still walked away with a hefty £200,000 in prize money.

Littler’s incredible run to the final caught the eye of both former and current United players, with club legend David Beckham even sending him a special message.

Littler receives message from Ferguson

Following his success at the PDC World Darts Championship, the Runcorn-born darts player made the trip to Old Trafford for United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham.

During his visit for the United clash last Sunday, Littler met with United icon Ferguson, club captain Bruno Fernandes and Red Devils legend Jaap Stam.

The United fan also received a Red Devils T-shirt featuring his darts nickname, ‘The Nuke,’ on the back alongside the 180 number.

Littler was in awe at his trip to Old Trafford and shared his experience on social media, with the darts player in awe over his excitement of meeting Ferguson.

According to The Daily Star, the British darts sensation has now revealed what former United manager Ferguson told him during their meeting at Old Trafford.

“It’s been crazy. Warrington Wolves invited me down and I went to the United game and met Sir Alex Ferguson,” he said.

“To meet him was amazing and he said some lovely things to me about staying dedicated and believing in myself.”

United fan Littler on life-changing experience

Littler admitted that his life changed after his World Darts Championship debut, with the darts star climbing from rank 133 to rank 31 in the world after his success.

“My life’s changed and my family’s life has changed so much, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’m getting,” he said.

“But now it’s back to business for me – I’ve chilled out and not really thrown many darts since the World Championship final, but I’m sure that once I’m in the practice room I’ll be all right.

“I like playing all the time but after the World Championship, I wanted to get away, which me and the family did.

“Hopefully, I can have a good event here to get back into the rhythm of playing.

“I’m in this event in Bahrain, then the Dutch Darts Masters next week and then the Premier League.

“I don’t really have any goals; I’m just going to have to see what the darts do.”
