Darts star Luke Littler was in awe after he met with former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson during his trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.
Littler, who is a United fan, shot to superstardom after his scintillating run in the 2023-24 PDC World Darts Championship tournament at only the age of 16.
The Runcorn-born darts player was denied the championship title after Luke Humphries secured a 7-4 victory at the final at Alexandra Palace in London.
Littler’s fairytale run caught the eye of United and even Red Devils players, both past and present, shared their support in the 16-year-old’s rise to stardom in darts.
The World Darts Championship finalist was invited to Old Trafford and Littler received an incredible reception ahead of the 2-2 draw against Tottenham.
Littler meets Ferguson and Bruno Fernandes
Littler took to Instagram and shared photos of him alongside United legend Ferguson, who was spotted signing a shirt for the darts sensation.
The United fan also shared a snap with Bruno Fernandes and was interviewed on the pitch at Old Trafford, with club legend Jaap Stam standing alongside him.
“Super Sunday at the Theatre of Dreams, thanks for having me,” Littler wrote on Instagram.
United’s official Instagram account posted a photo of Littler holding a Red Devils T-shirt with ‘The Nuke’ – Littler’s darts nickname – and the 180 number on the back.
“Old Trafford welcomes darts hero and big United fan, [Luke Littler],” the club posted.
Littler took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and paid tribute to Ferguson over his opportunity to meet the legendary former United manager.
“Thanks [Man United] for today. Was great to meet the legend Sir Alex Ferguson,” he tweeted.
Littler’s Christmas presents included United trip
According to The Daily Express, Littler had previously shared that he planned to visit United’s iconic Old Trafford stadium after receiving a special present on Christmas.
The darts star claimed that he would attend Old Trafford after his World Darts Championship campaign, which finally became a reality for him on Sunday.
“For Christmas, I got stuff for my Xbox, a controller, some gift cards and two tickets for the Manchester United stadium tour,” Littler said.
“So, I will go to that after the Worlds. I’ve never done [the] tour before. Just watched a few games there.”
