Manchester United legend Roy Keane was asked for his prediction for the winner between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LVIII.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will compete in the NFL extravaganza on Sunday at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The two NFL teams previously clashed at Super Bowl LIV in 2020, with the Chiefs beating the 49ers at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Flordia.

The Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl champions, having beaten the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LVII at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, in 2023.

Manchester United players have dropped their predictions for Super Bowl LVIII, with the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw sharing who they think will win.

Former United captain Roy Keane has now revealed where he stands ahead of the Chiefs and the 49ers’ hotly anticipated showdown in Las Vegas.

Keane’s prediction for Super Bowl LVIII

Roy Keane is a big fan of the NFL and the ex-Manchester United midfielder attended the San Francisco 49ers’ 24-21 victory over the Green Bay Packers last month.

The Sky Sports pundit’s appearance at the NFL play-off match at Levi’s Stadium in California made the rounds on social media, with NFL UK sharing a hilarious post.

Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, NFL UK wrote: “‘Making the Conference Championship? That’s their job’ – Roy Keane at [Levi’s Stadium], probably.”

Speaking to Sky Sports, Keane revealed that his allegiance is with the 49ers and admitted that he would “love to see them” lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

However, the 52-year-old Irishman said that the Kansas City Chiefs have “world-class players” and believes that they will emerge victorious at Super Bowl LVIII.

“Predictions? I’ve gone against the Chiefs the last couple of games and it’s backfired on me,” he said.

“I’m a 49ers fan but I think the Chiefs have world-class players obviously and a great coach.

“As a 49ers fan, I’d love to see them win it, but I’m going to go with the Chiefs to win it.”

San Francisco 49ers coach ready for Chiefs

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan believes his side can emerge triumphant at Super Bowl LVIII and hit out at any “narrative” around his ability to win on the big stage.

“I’d deal with that the same as if we win,” he said.

“I’d celebrate with my team, my family and then move on with the rest of my life, which is being a father, a son, coaching and working.

“A narrative, good or bad, is just a narrative.”
