With Super Bowl 58 merely hours away, who are Manchester United’s biggest stars rooting for to win the Lombardi trophy?

Manchester United are in action this Sunday, facing Aston Villa at Villa Park, but there’s another huge game happening which has everyone talking.

The Super Bowl is here and ahead of its 58th edition, speculation is high over who will lift that famous trophy in Las Vegas.

It’s Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the San Francisco 49ers with Brock Purdy and George Kittle.

It’s one of the toughest Super Bowls to predict in years, but that hasn’t stopped United players having their say.

Manchester United players predict Super Bowl 58

Ahead of the huge game, United have been asking the players who they are backing on Sunday night into Monday morning here in the UK.

Collating the responses into an Instagram post, United shared what the players were predicting for the game, here’s what they said.

Kobbie Mainoo: “I got Chiefs winning”.

Luke Shaw: “The Chiefs”.

Christian Eriksen: “Chiefs – Mahomes”.

Mary Earps: “Chiefs Chiefs Chiefs”.

Hannah Blundell: “Chiefs of course”.

Tom Heaton: “49ers!!”

Diogo Dalot: “Chiefs”.

Jonny Evans: “Chiefs all the way”.

So it overwhelmingly seems as though United players are backing the Chiefs to go back-to-back after they won in 2023. It would be their third in five seasons and also the second time they’d beat the 49ers in the Super Bowl in the last five seasons repeating 2020’s final.

All that being said, the 49ers are coming into the game with the better season record and as slight favourites too.

When is the Super Bowl on?

For those in the UK who are planning on watching the Super Bowl, it’ll be a late night as the game is set to kick off at 11:30 pm on Sunday.

This means that it likely won’t end until after 3 am, with a halftime performance from Usher also taking place.

The game will be shown live on TV in the UK on ITV1 along with Sky Sports NFL and Main Event.

United players will undoubtedly be watching after hopefully leaving Villa Park with all three points.
