TNT Sports pundit Rio Ferdinand has made his feelings clear after the Manchester United legend reacted to Manchester City’s fourth consecutive Premier League title win.

Manchester City edged out Arsenal to the league title this season after beating West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad on the final day of the Premier League campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s men finished on 91 points and Arsenal fell two points short of the reigning Premier League champions.

Manchester United’s crosstown rivals also became the first English team in history to lift four consecutive Premier League titles.

The Red Devils had previously lifted three consecutive Premier League titles under legendary former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferdinand reacts to Man City accomplishment

Manchester City ended the 2022-23 season by becoming the second English team in history to complete a continental treble.

Manchester United had previously completed the aforementioned feat in the 1998-99 season under Sir Alex Ferguson.

City’s season is not over and Pep Guardiola’s side could still add another piece of major silverware to their cabinet before the campaign is out.

The Premier League champions will travel to Wembley on 25th May to face United in the FA Cup final, having beaten the Red Devils 2-1 in the 2023 FA Cup final.

Rio Ferdinand took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and shared his reaction after City’s latest Premier League title triumph.

The United legend, who lifted six league titles under Ferguson, congratulated Guardiola and City on their historic feat in the Premier League.

The 45-year-old former England and United defender all the while vented his frustration at City eclipsing the Red Devils with their fourth title win in a row.

Ferdinand’s tweet included a weary face emoji and a see-no-evil monkey emoji, summing up how he really felt about City’s feat.

“Congratulations to Pep + [Manchester City]. [Four] in a row ffs,” he wrote.

Ferdinand on conversations with Guardiola

Ferdinand opened up on the elite mindset of City boss Guardiola and revealed the Spaniard’s hunger and desire to lift a fourth consecutive league title.

“I talk to Pep quite a lot on the phone and four in a row has been on his mind before the season started,” he told TNT Sports.

“He messages me taking the mick about if they win four then they are past Man Utd, there is a hunger and desire for him to overtake Manchester United.

“This guy is the main difference, he’s a genius amongst elite people in that squad and at the club, he is the difference-maker.”
