Wayne Rooney thinks that Manchester United ace Senne Lammens and another Premier League star were only outdone by two other players in the 2025-26 season.
Senne Lammens deeply impressed in his debut season at Old Trafford after the 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper established himself as the Manchester United No 1.
Signed from Royal Antwerp last September, the Man Utd player picked up eight clean sheets from his 32 Premier League matches for the Red Devils.
Lammens provided stability to the Red Devils backline and the former Royal Antwerp star’s confidence was seen in full force with his command of his United area.

Man Utd legend Wayne Rooney feels Senne Lammens and Jordan Pickford had similar Premier League seasons
Manchester United agreed to pay an initial £18.1m, including further add-ons, to bring Senne Lammens to Old Trafford on deadline day last summer.
Lammens’ stunning debut season at Man Utd has earned the Belgium international high praise after immediately adapting to the demands of the Premier League.
Wayne Rooney feels that the ex-Royal Antwerp ace is in the same tier as Everton’s Jordan Pickford for the level of consistency that was delivered last season.
But the 40-year-old ex-Man Utd captain admitted that only Gianluigi Donnarumma and David Raya had better seasons than Lammens and Jordan Pickford.
Speaking on BBC Sport’s The Wayne Rooney Show, he said: “I think consistency is key, and I think you’ve seen with Pickford, Pickford’s been really good again this season.
“Lammens has been consistent and steady all season. For me, Donnarumma and Raya, they’ll be the two standout ones this season.”

Wayne Rooney’s honest feelings on Senne Lammens’ debut Premier League season at Man Utd
Rooney backed the impact that Lammens had for the Red Devils in the 2025-26 season, but not enough to put him ahead of Arsenal’s David Raya as the standout shot-stopper.
“Yeah, and Lammens as well,” he said.
“He’s done well, he’s come in, there’s a big pressure at Man United to go in and be a goalkeeper at Man United. But I just think Raya has been a level up.”
Lammens made 33 appearances across all competitions for Man Utd after the former Club Brugge player succeeded Andre Onana between the sticks at the club.
