Manchester United have hit another major low point in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era after a new stat emerged following the 4-1 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday.
Sir Alex Ferguson called it time on his legendary reign as Manchester United manager in 2013 after hoovering up the major silverware at Old Trafford.
The 83-year-old Scotsman is widely regarded as one of the best managers of all time and Ferguson enjoyed an incredible managerial spell in England with United.
Ferguson lifted all 13 of United’s Premier League titles and the former Red Devils manager led the club to their famous continental treble win in the 1998-99 season.
United have failed to capture the Premier League title since the end of the 2012-13 campaign, which marked the subsequent exit of Ferguson from Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim became the sixth permanent manager at United in the post-Ferguson era after he left Sporting CP last November and arrived at the Premier League club.
The 40-year-old ex-Sporting CP boss made a real name for himself in his native homeland and he succeeded Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford as United manager.
Erik ten Hag’s reign as United manager ended last October after the ex-Ajax boss was sacked following a disastrous start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

Man Utd set a brand-new eye-opening stat in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era after Ruben Amorim’s men lost to Newcastle in the Premier League
Ruben Amorim watched on from the touchline at St James’ Park as Manchester United suffered a 4-1 loss to Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday.
United and Newcastle went into half-time with a 1-1 scoreline before the Magpies pulled away from the Red Devils in the second half in ruthless fashion.
The Red Devils currently languish in 14th place in the Premier League table and United have only managed to win 10 times in 32 matches in the 2024-25 campaign.
United are on course for their worst finish in the table since the Premier League’s formation in 1992 and they could miss out on European football next season.
Following Sunday’s 4-1 loss to Newcastle at St James’ Park, TNT Sports shared a stat of United’s performance in the Premier League after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
TNT Sports shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, that United only lost 114 Premier League matches under Ferguson during his legendary reign at Old Trafford.
However, the Red Devils have now lost 115 Premier League matches since the legendary former United and Aberdeen manager bowed out of the club in 2013.
Ruben Amorim wants to see a major Man United turnaround for the crucial Europa League match against Lyon at Old Trafford
Speaking after United’s latest defeat, Amorim insisted that the Red Devils must bounce back for their vital Europa League clash against French side Lyon.
“The good thing this season is we have been through a lot so we know how these moments are really difficult, but we proved already, not to other people, but to ourselves that we can get up and fight again,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“So, we have to do that on Thursday.”
United will host Lyon at Old Trafford for their second-leg Europa League quarter-final match, with kick-off slated for 8pm UK time on Thursday evening.
