Manchester United fans are reflecting on the club’s sudden decision to sack head coach Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim‘s bizarre behaviour in his recent press conferences smacked of a manager who was eager to be fired.

He got his wish, with Ineos swinging the axe early on January 5, firing Amorim from his position.

Amorim is the second manager sacked by Ineos in successive seasons, following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

Immediately following Amorim’s dismissal, we presented an early snapshot of how Manchester United fans had reacted to the news, via TalkingPoints.

And as more and more comments flood in, it’s clear that Ineos are receiving more and more flak.

Ineos under scrutiny

Ruben Amorim was Ineos’ hand-picked replacement for Erik ten Hag, and he has lasted only 14 months in charge.

And while there are multiple reasons why Amorim was sacked, ultimately it is a bad look for those running the football club, to be hitting the reset button again so quickly.

One poster on TalkingPoints wrote: “Been a Red all my life, who the hell would want the job with this board behind you.”

Another added: “Yet again the lowlifes in senior positions are throwing our manager under the bus.”

With United sitting a respectable sixth position in the Premier League, there is extra attention on the board.

“Doesn’t matter who gets the position nothing will change until the Glazers and Ineos are gone,” another fan wrote.

And a fourth added: “What the hell do you think you’re doing, inept, all the board are inept. Couldn’t run a bingo hall.”

Another fan sarcastically wrote: “Sir Jim should be appointed. Berrada and Wilcox his assistants and Neville can be the analyst. Dream team.”

A further comment questioned whether the structure put in place by Ineos is part of the problem.

“Successful clubs always appear to be led by a manager rather than a head coach taking part of a group of responsibilities.

“Can’t imagine Sir Alex accepting a carved out role and no coincidence that the current top three all have ‘managers'”.

“He was right to stand his ground, this new generation of billionaire owners don’t understand that a football club is more than just a business entity, their egos are are destroying clubs built and loved by generations,” another fan wrote.

And one more added: “I think the club should have first carefully considered whether Jason Wilcox was the right candidate to be the Director of Football at the club.

“I think he is over influencing key decision to get credit for any club success. Amorim was a great coach who needed more time.”

Amorim not without blame

Despite all these critical comments about Ineos, Ruben Amorim clearly is not without blame himself for his own downfall.

United had been on a poor run of form with only one win in the last five matches.

One fan wrote: “He had to go as it was his way or no way and no way was winning, his indecision and changes during games had most people wondering what was going on. He picked teams not to lose matches, didn’t pick teams to win.”

A second fan posted: “His rigidity, making unnecessary decisions like substitutions. Misreading the games. You can’t try a system for a year and fails, still continue with it.

“A good manager utilizes the given resources to come out with good results.”

And another added: “A step in the right direction for Man United. Amorim’s hardheadedness and stubbornness was taking the club in the wrong direction football-wise.”
