Marcus Rashford has made his first start for Aston Villa and it came against Liverpool in the Premier League.

Manchester United have a lot of players out on loan this season, but nobody will have more eyes on his performances than Marcus Rashford.

The January transfer window saw Rashford linked with half of Europe, following his bombshell interview in which he admitted he wanted a new challenge.

Rashford ended up at Aston Villa, with a £40m option to buy included in the loan contract. Last weekend he made his debut, with a solid display that impressed Unai Emery.

Ruben Amorim has had to watch as Rashford looks like a new man, all while the United attack is awful and has not scored in two games. Liverpool boss Arne Slot even praised Rashford in the build-up to the Villa match which also saw the forward impress.

Marcus Rashford’s performance against Liverpool

While the Champions League was front and centre on Wednesday night, the Premier League had a blockbuster tie with Liverpool facing off against Aston Villa. The game saw Rashford make his first start for Villa as he lined up on the left.

The 27-year-old completed 73 per cent of his passes in the game while also having 39 touches of the ball.

The performance from Rashford was far from perfect, yet for those who watched the game it was not the stats which made it a solid display.

Rashford looked very sharp on and off the ball, while he is still clearly getting back up to match speed.

After the game, United fans were demonstrating their verdict on the Englishman’s outing for Villa with strong praise on social media.

Rashford had some very impressive moments in the game against Liverpool and it caused United fans to react on X.

One fan wrote: “Rashford you are so bloody good”.

This fan made a bold claim: “Rashford best player on the pitch when Salah’s on lmao. Idiots will say this is a purple patch when Villa are attacking with numbers and giving Rashford overlaps.”

While another agreed: “Rashford just might be Aston Villa’s best player. He’s actually everywhere on that pitch.”

Rashford showed a work rate which was unfamiliar to United fans in the game and it shocked some.

“I’ve just seen Rashford slide tackle someone”, a fan commented in shock. Another added: “Rashford didn’t put in half of this performance at United in recent times and was rightfully sidelined… he’s playing to prove a point and it’s working for him so far.”

Some fans began to wonder if the issue was actually United, tipped Amorim to regret letting him leave.

“Look at how well Rashford is playing when he has actual movement and good players around him”, one commented.

A final fan wrote: “I back Amorim but letting Rashford go looks so stupid unless Ineos promised him a replacement”.

From the way the reaction has gone, it seems Rashford had an impressive outing.
