Manchester United fans had a lot to say about Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee after the Red Devils successfully overcame Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Crystal Palace hosted Manchester United at Selhurst Park and the Eagles went into half-time with a 1-0 scoreline on the board in the Premier League match.

Jean-Philippe Mateta netted past Senne Lammens twice from the spot-kick, with the 28-year-old French striker’s initial attempt ruled out after he touched the ball twice.

Who was Manchester United’s MAN OF THE MATCH vs Crystal Palace?🤔🔥

The Palace star stepped up again and Jean-Philippe Mateta sent Senne Lammens into the opposite direction after he slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.

Mateta’s first-half opener would be cancelled out early in the second half after Joshua Zirkzee squeezed the ball past Dean Henderson with a superb finish.

Following on from Joshua Zirkzee’s second-half equaliser, Bruno Fernandes then set up Mason Mount for United’s second of the contest and put Palace on the back foot.

Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee play starring roles for Man Utd in the Premier League comeback against Crystal Palace

Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 on Sunday afternoon and Ruben Amorim’s men were able to walk away with all three Premier League points.

Both Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee had a major impact in the Red Devils returning to winning ways and United fans dropped their two cents on the pair.

One X user wrote: “United fans are too harsh on Mount. I understand he’s on big money, but he’s not a bad player at all; he just hasn’t been fit enough [and] he can offer us something. And well done to Zirkzee for his goal; hopefully, he can build on that […].”

Somebody else said: “Again, this Mason Mount is a major cog in this team and should start every game, whether or not [Matheus] Cunha is available. [Benjamin] Sesko should be competing with Cunha.”

“Even when Cunha is back, Mason Mount should start ahead of him,” a third United fan added.

While a fourth Red Devils supporter posted: “I told anyone who would listen. You keep Mason Mount fit and he is a game-changer.”

“That’s why Mason Mount has to play. MOTM,” another tweeted.

Describe that finish from Joshua Zirkzee in one word…⚽️🔥

Someone else argued: “Zirkzee had a standout performance, too.”

A seventh commented: “Zirkzee, if you’re going to shut me up by putting up performances like that week in, week out, I absolutely do not mind being wrong about you!”

Another claimed: “Zirkzee, if he stays fit, [he] will definitely keep Sesko out of the [starting] 11.”

Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee shine for Man Utd and stepped up when Ruben Amorim needed them the most

Zirkzee was heavily criticised by United fans for his woeful performance against 10-man Everton in the 1-0 Premier League defeat earlier this week.

However, United manager Ruben Amorim stuck with the 24-year-old Dutchman for the second match running and Zirkzee seized the chance when it was presented.

Mount came off the bench in United’s loss to Everton, but the former Chelsea ace started against Palace and made his mark at Selhurst Park in the second half.

The 26-year-old United No 7 helped the Red Devils on Sunday afternoon overcome the absence of Matheus Cunha and Mount deserves his flowers for his display.

United will now return to action for their first Premier League match of December next Thursday, with the Red Devils hosting West Ham at Old Trafford.

The Premier League clash between Amorim’s United team and Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham side is currently slated for an 8pm UK kick-off time on 4th December.
