Manchester United’s Premier League weekend might not have been the best after the battering at Newcastle but there was a silver lining, depending upon how one looks at it.
On one hand, Man Utd’s 4-1 loss to Newcastle followed Jadon Sancho’s wondergoal vs Ipswich that allowed Chelsea to claw back a 2-2 deficit so it reflects badly on United.
On the other hand, Sancho doing well at Chelsea should hopefully quieten the noise around reports of his Utd return which would be a disaster for the club.
The majority of Man Utd fans firmly chose a side and made the ‘steal’ point clear with their intentions in the wake of Sancho’s goal.

Man Utd fans on Jadon Sancho
It is fair to say that Sancho has burned all bridges at United which is easy to do for a player who throws petty digs at the club while they are still paying him to play for somebody else.
So, for him to score a wondergoal before United proceeded to limp to a 4-1 defeat devoid of attacking threat wasn’t exactly a good look.
However, Sancho’s case is so far gone into the extreme that the fans couldn’t care less about his exploit, just sarcastically praising his qualities to the heavens in the hope that Chelsea won’t send him back.
This led to some truly hilarious responses as one said, “Freedom fighter finally scores! Now Chelsea can sign him,” as another wrote, “Yep, Chelsea should pay the money already.”
“25m is an absolute steal, pay up, Chelsea, he’s a star,” said another United fan, no doubt relishing the sarcastic tone as another continued, “Goal of the season. He’s worth 90m now!”
Another said, “He’s Messi reincarnated. Please sign him up Chelsea.”
Finally, one Man Utd fan sent Chelsea a succinct plea that will resonate with the fanbase, saying, “Unreal player, the potential to be the next Messi if treated well as Chelsea have been doing. Be a waste if they didn’t take him full time now and let go of that potential.”
Man Utd should celebrate Sancho’s wondergoal
It is clear from the responses above that the ship to Old Trafford has well and truly sailed for Sancho.
Not even a wondergoal, combined with United’s lack of attacking threat can turn the tide anymore, especially considering Sancho has been underwhelming pretty much all season before this strike.
At a time when there are reports of Chelsea considering sending Sancho back, every goal contribution from now on till the end of the season should be celebrated by United.
It gets them ever closer to that £25 million windfall, a deal that looks amazing due to the sheer phenomenon of addition by subtraction, not even adding the fee to the finances.
Sign him up, Chelsea!
