Mohamed Elyounoussi has criticised one Manchester United for his perceived ‘whining and moaning’ after FC Copenhagen’s 4-3 win over the Red Devils.
Manchester United had to deal with a fair few contentious decisions from the referee and VAR on the day and this caused frustration from Erik ten Hag in the post-match press conference.
Bruno Fernandes and the former Southampton winger Mohamed Elyounoussi had a few exchanges of words towards the end of the game after the defeat to the Danish side.
The loss to FC Copenhagen means that the Red Devils need to win against Galatasaray and possibly pick up a draw against Bayern Munich to qualify for the knockout stages.
Elyounoussi on Fernandes
Speaking to FotbalSkanalen, Elyounoussi was very critical of the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder and said Fernandes was complaining too much.
“I think everyone who has seen United and who has seen him knows that he is a player who is always with the referees complaining and whining,” he said.
“I tried to get him away from the referee. I said: “It’s done”. It was nothing more than that. I don’t like players who go forward and try to influence the referees.”
This came after Alejandro Garnacho was branded a ‘clown’ by Slovakian defender Denis Vavro after trying to scuff up the penalty spot again.
The Red Devils had the lead twice but once again they failed to hang on and suffered a rather bizarre 4-3 defeat to the Danish side who jumped up to second in the division.
Fernandes’ frustrations
Following the defeat to FC Copenhagen, a video emerged of Fernandes sitting on the top of the stairs with a frustrated look on his face after the manner of the defeat to the Danish side.
Well, the midfielder has been consistently criticised for his ‘whinging’ with Gary Neville becoming frustrated with Fernandes for his antics during the Manchester derby.
However, perhaps it is time that more United players begin to complain to the referees like Harry Maguire did so incessantly which helped the Red Devils win a penalty that was converted by Fernandes to make it 3-2..
If decisions aren’t going their way, then United needs to be more vocal about this and Fernandes is usually the biggest culprit of this.
